NATIONAL ASSOCIATION APPLAUDS IDAHO STATE CONTROLLER’S OFFICE “WORLD CLASS” DESIGNATION FOR PAYROLL OPERATIONS

Boise, Idaho – The National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) has commended State Controller Donna Jones’ office for earning the coveted “World Class” designation for payroll operations from top business analyst The Hackett Group. NASACT is the professional organization of the chief finance officials in the fifty states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories.

“We applaud Idaho’s performance, and acknowledge the commitment to excellence that has enabled the state to achieve this milestone in payroll,” said NASACT Executive Director Kinney Poynter. “These results demonstrate that public sector payroll organizations can operate at the same level as their corporate peers. While the goals of a state are very different from those of a corporation, the underlying payroll best practices are surprisingly similar.”

Over the past 14 years, The Hackett Group has performed more than 3,500 benchmark studies at 2,100 of the world’s leading organizations. In Hackett’s recent payroll operations study, Idaho earned the top “World Class” ranking by finishing in the top 10% for effectiveness among the nearly 130 large corporations and states surveyed.

“It is flattering that Idaho’s payroll operations compare so strongly to other states,” said State Controller Jones. “But the fact that we earned the top-tier ‘World Class’ ranking when compared to industry giants like H&R Block, Shell Oil, and United Airlines underscores the effectiveness of our payroll operations.”
