The supplemental spending bill (H.R. 2206) signed into law on May 25, 2007 by President Bush includes a provision raise the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour by 2009.
Under H.R. 2206, the minimum wage increased from $5.15 an hour to $5.85 in July 2007. The second phase will be in effect July 24, 2008 and will increase the minimum wage to $6.55 an hour. Phase three will take effect July 24, 2009 and climb to $7.25 an hour.
Per Idaho Code 44-1502 (Minimum Wage Law): "The amount of the minimum wage shall conform to, and track with, the federal minimum wage."
NOTE: Because July 24, 2008 falls in the middle of a pay period, the effective date for the IPOPS action should be July 13, 2008 (Paid August 8, 2008).
