Subject:Minimum Wage Increase effective July 24, 2009
Sent Date:07/15/2009

The supplemental spending bill (H.R. 2206) signed into law on May 25, 2007 by President Bush includes a provision to raise the federal minimum wage to
$7.25 an hour by 2009.

Under H.R. 2206, the minimum wage increased from $5.15 an hour to $5.85 in July 2007. The second phase was effective July 24, 2008 and increased the
minimum wage to $6.55 an hour. Phase three will take effect on July 24, 2009 with the rate of $7.25 an hour.

Per Idaho Code 44-1502 (Minimum Wage Law): "The amount of the minimum wage shall conform to, and track with, the federal minimum wage."

Agencies received an IBIS report that listed the employees whose hourly rate fell below $7.25.

If any employees on this list are exempt from the minimum wage law, please reply back to us with this information. If you have any questions regarding
who is exempt, please contact the Idaho Department of Labor at 334-6430 or wageandhour.bureau@labor.idaho.gov.

An LU (Payline Movement Upward) IPOPS action should be submitted to move the rate up to the new minimum wage. Because July 24, 2009 falls
in the middle of a pay period, the effective date for the IPOPS action should be July 12, 2009 (Paid August 7, 2009). Please call the DSP Help Desk
at 334-2394 if you have any questions about submitting this action.
