Subject:Web Browser Warning Message
Sent Date:08/11/2009

  • Beginning today, August 11th, users will receive the "warning message" below when accessing the SCO Logon page if the web browser they are using is not Internet Explorer version 7.0 or 6.0:

"IMPORTANT: Our system detects you are using an incompatible web browser. The Idaho State Controller's Office Web applications are compatible only with Internet Explorer Version 7.0 and 6.0 browsers. If you need assistance installing a compatible web browser, please contact your agency's IT department. For further information please see the Application Browser Requirements page."

Both agencies and employees need to be aware that Microsoft currently offers version 8.0 as an automatic update to version 7.0 users. While it may be possible for users with incompatible web browsers to click 'OK' on the above message and continue to access the SCO's web applications, the functionality within those applications is not guaranteed.

The State Controller's Office currently only supports Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0. When a new version of Internet Explorer is released by Microsoft, our approach is to wait a few months before we begin testing the latest version with our web applications, allowing time for Microsoft to work out many of their bugs and kinks. Once we have successfully tested all SCO web applications with the latest version of Internet Explorer and are satisfied that our applications will work as intended, we will send out notification.

As always, if you have any questions regarding this e-mail, please call the DSP Helpdesk at 334-2394.
