Re: Release of Internet Explorer version 7.0
As many of you are aware, Microsoft has begun to release Internet Explorer 7. Through our testing and also hearing from several of you we are aware that some of our Web applications (I-Time and IPOPS) do not function as intended with Internet Explorer 7. Our staff is identifying the impact and what it will take to update these applications to function correctly for both Internet Explorer version 6 and 7. With this version update we will do all we can to provide the service and support you and your staff need in working with these applications.
Our approach has been to wait until the browser goes into production status prior to begin looking at it. This allows time for Microsoft to work out many of the bugs and kinks. Therefore, it allows our office to work with a stable product and limits risk. Once we have successfully updated our applications to work accordingly we will notify you.
One item agencies and employees will need to be aware of is the automatic push from Microsoft to update to IE7. Beginning in the near future Microsoft will begin making the automatic push for version 7 update available to version 6 users.
Here is a link to Microsoft that discusses the automatic distribution as a Windows update, and has links for the blocker kit at the bottom.
