TWIN FALLS CHAMBER GROUP IMMERSED IN STATE GOVERNMENT

Boise, Idaho – Idaho State Controller Donna Jones welcomed 36 members of the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce to Boise for their annual Leadership Institute on Monday.

“This program represents a great opportunity for folks in the Magic Valley to interact directly with their elected leaders,” said State Controller Jones. “I was very pleased at the level of interest these chamber members showed in knowing how we use their tax dollars efficiently and carefully.”

In addition to visiting the Office of the State Controller, the group visited various state government agencies including the Legislature, State Supreme Court, the Office of the Attorney General and the Office of the Governor, and met Lt. Governor Jim Risch.

“Seeing the inner-workings of government first-hand is an excellent opportunity for our local business leaders to learn where their tax dollars go, and how spending decisions are made,” said longtime chamber member Dr. David McClusky.

“I appreciate the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce and Dr. McClusky for making this great program possible,” concluded Jones.

The State Controller is the chief fiscal officer of state government. She manages Idaho’s fiscal affairs, which includes paying the state’s bills, paying state employees, as well as maintaining Idaho’s centralized financial management reporting and accounting systems. Jones is Idaho’s 20th State Controller, and the first woman to hold this constitutional post.
