STATE CONTROLLER’S OFFICE ACHIEVES “WORLD CLASS” RECOGNITION
Boise, Idaho – Idaho State Controller Donna Jones announced her office recently earned “World Class” designation for its payroll operations. A leading business analyst, The Hackett Group, awarded this coveted designation to the State Controller’s Office.
“Earning a ‘World Class’ designation from The Hackett Group means that Idaho’s payroll operations are at the top when compared to other states and industry giants like H&R Block, Shell Oil, and United Airlines,” said State Controller Donna Jones. “This designation recognizes our steadfast commitment to quality and efficiency, as well as our highly qualified and motivated staff.”
Over the past 14 years, The Hackett Group has performed more than 3,500 benchmark studies at 2,100 of the world’s leading organizations. In Hackett’s recent payroll operations study, Idaho earned the prestigious “World Class” ranking by finishing in the top 10% for effectiveness among the nearly 130 large corporations and states surveyed.
According to Hackett Senior Business Advisor Felicia Cheek, “Being recognized as an organization that has achieved ‘World Class’ performance in effectiveness proves the State of Idaho not only knows how to manage its payroll, but they do an excellent job of managing payroll exceptions. Organizations that know how to manage payroll exceptions will stand out as payroll leaders.”
The Hackett Group payroll performance study evaluated seven different sub-processes to measure performance. State Controller Jones noted that while the benchmark survey shows Idaho already uses many of the payroll industries best practices, opportunities for continued improvement still exist. “This ‘World Class’ designation shows us and the taxpayers that we are doing an excellent job,” said Jones. “But perhaps more importantly, it can help us develop a roadmap to further improve our services, cut costs and save tax dollars.”
