Purpose: This action allows an agency to move all employees in a particular classification into a higher (temporary) pay grade when it is necessary to obtain or retain qualified individuals per DHR Rules.

• Employee's rate indicator must be 'H'

Note:  The rate of pay is required but should not increase unless the entrance rate of the new pay grade is higher than their current rate.  

If it is determined the temporary pay grade is no longer necessary, use the DX - Return from Payline Exception change reason to return the employees to their prior pay grade.
