General Inactivation Information

Effective Date - The Effective date for inactivation's should be the last day the employee reports time. Change codes 'IS' and 'IX' are the exception to this since they are inactive with pay codes.

  • When an employee with a time sheet required switch equal to 'N' becomes inactive, the time sheet switch will automatically be updated to 'Y'.
  • The pay status field will be changed to an 'I' (inactive without pay) or a 'B' (inactive with pay).
  • Employer paid life insurance will not be calculated for an employee with pay status 'I' or 'B'.
  • No payoff will be generated for inactive annual or hourly employees.
  • When the pay status is a 'B', only a hourly employee is allowed to be paid. Annual employees with pay status 'B' will receive the message 'ANNUAL EMPLOYEE WITH TIMESHEET = 'Y' on the BU444395 report, if they are TSR = 'Y' and time is submitted or an override is active.
  • Time must be submitted if an annual or hourly employee should be paid and an inactivation with pay status 'I' is submitted with an effective date that is not a pay period begin date.
  • Direct deposit, deduction, and shift indicator remain unchanged.
