RD - Reclassification, Downward

Purpose: This action is used when an employee's position is changing to a Class Code with a Pay Grade that is lower than their current Pay Grade.

If the employee is classified:

  • The class code must have a new value.
  • The pay grade must have a new value.
  • The pay rate is required even if it is not changing.
  • The employee's FLSA code will need to be updated with a 'MW' change reason if it does not match the FLSA code on the new class code. (The leave schedule may also be affected.)

If the employee is non-classified with a classified class code:

  • The Agency has the option of using the 'H' pay schedule of the '000' schedule.
  • The FLSA code will not be edited.
  • The correct pay grade is required and the pay rate will be validated if the 'H' schedule is used.

Annual Salary: The Adjusted Contract Salary may be greater than the Rate/Salary when the 'RD' change reason is used.

The employee's position will be automatically updated to the new Class Code except in certain situations.  Please refer to the Employee Reclassifications page.
