Statewide Descriptor Table D21 GAAP Fund Type

The D21 GAAP Fund Type table defines the type and title of the GAAP Fund Types used for GAAP reporting. The reference data includes the transaction codes used to close both debit and credit balances for each GAAP fund type, the fund type name, and the operating statement format indicator.

A – General

B – Special Revenue

C – Capital Projects

D – Debt Service

E – Enterprise

F – Internal Service

G – Expendable Trust

H – Permanent

J – Agency

K – Current funds

L – Student Loan

M – General Capital Asset Fund

N – General Full Accrual Fund

O – Clearing Fund

CLOSE DR TC

CLOSE CR TC

The three-digit Close DR transaction code (TC) to close debit balances followed by the three-digit Close CR transaction code to close credit balances for this fund type. These TCs close nominal accounts to Fund Balance or Retained Earnings, depending on the GAAP fund type. The TCs either increase or decrease the fund balance (equity) account, depending upon whether the nominal account has a debit or credit balance.

382383 – TCs 382 or 383 close to unassigned fund balance (GL 3102). Currently used for GAAP Fund types: A, B, C, D, G, H, I, J, K, L, N, O.

384385 – TCs 384 or 385 close to unrestricted net position (GL 3202). Currently used for GAAP Fund types: E, F

389390 – TCs 389 or 390 close to invested in capital assets (GL 3002). Currently used for GAAP Fund types: M

Enter the one-character operating statement format indicator.

G – Governmental

P – Proprietary

A – Agency

H – Higher Education

E – Exclude

TITLE Enter the name of the GAAP Fund type, up to 50 characters.
