Statewide Descriptor Table D51 Error Message Description

The D51 Error Message Description table contains the error message descriptions for STARS error codes. These will be displayed during data entry if there is an error, and print on the DAFR8003 error report. Also used as the Keyword to look up the error message on the STARS-News/Help 90 table (screen S090).

D51 – Error Message Description Data Entry Requirements

Data Element Description
TABLE-ID-NUMBER Enter 51.
KEY DATA Enter the three or four-character error code assigned by the SCO STARS technical team.

REFERENCE DATA

This is optional. Use if the Error Severity Indicator is B or E (the error code would also start with B or E.) Leave blank if it is F, G, J, K, R, or W.

ECT ELEMENT

Enter the two-digit data element number if the error severity indicator is B or E. You must define this number on Descriptor Table 52.

ECT ELMNT LEN

Enter the two-digit data element length if the error severity indicator below is a B or E. This identifies the length of the Field Input Data Record to be corrected.

ERROR SEVER IND

Enter the one-character error severity indicator if this indicator is a B or E. This indicator should match the first character of the error code. It identifies the severity of the error encountered by STARS. Error severity indicators are:

B – Batch

E – Fatal field or table look-up error

F – Fatal fund and control errors

G – Error correction errors

J – Notification that Default Value was used

K – Non-fatal fund

R – Reject

W – Non-fatal field or table look-up as specified in the OC table

Error severity indicators F, G, R, and W can have override controls on the OC (Organization Control) table. However, overrides to these are not currently in use on the OC table.

ECT DATA NAME

Enter the twenty-character data element name if the error severity indicator above is a B or E. This name should match the Data Element Name in the table-entry-key of the D52.
